About the Scheme
Governance and Structure
The overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the Scheme rests with the Project Board, which has a Senior Management representative from each organisation.
The Board members are:
Tim Shields – Director Of Finance, The London Borough of Hackney
Steve Burd - Assistant Director of Finance, The London Borough of Islington
Simon Hart - Director of Finance Business Development, The Metropolitan Police Service.
The day-to-day management of the Scheme is the responsibility of the Project Manager and the Coordinating Committee. The Coordinating Committee reports to the Project Board and also has a representative from each organisation.
The Coordinating Committee members are:
Cherriane McDonald – Coordinating Committee member, The London Borough of Hackney
Lorraine Howard - Coordinating Committee member, The London Borough of Islington
Cathy Knapp – Coordinating Committee member, The Metropolitan Police Service.
The daily supervision of the Trainee is the responsibility of the placement Line Manager. The placement Line Manager creates a work plan at the beginning of the placement and conducts a performance appraisal on the Trainee' s work at the end of the placement. Trainees are able to benefit from working with a number of Line Managers, each of whom has a depth of experience in finance and in the workings and culture of their particular organisation.
A professionally trained Mentor is assigned to each Trainee for the duration of their traineeship. The Mentor provides additional support to the Trainee in their studies and work experience. The Mentor develops a Personal Development Plan with the Trainee, based on the Scheme's nine key competencies.
